So, never let it be said that Soapy sits on the sidelines for too long. Smile Need to hear something and (obviously) from someone about on isle happenings. Missing the old forum banter and the sip sip from our favourite island in the sun. Please chime in and let me know who's on isle now, what's happening and anything else. I'm dying here in the frozen north, sounds like our first snow flakes arrive in 3 days. Colour me blue.......ice blue.

Hello Soapstop,
I'm sure others will chime in but some folks might be a little busy the next couple of days with Joaquin knocking on their door.

Yeah, I guess my head has been buried in reno's the last day or so. Last time I looked it wasn't tracking too close to the isles, but you never can predict where they go for sure. Hope everyone on isle stays safe and dry. Praying Joaquin passes well to the east as they suggest.

Thankfully Eleuthera dodged the hurricane....but our southern islands took a terrible hit. Life on Lutra has returned to normal.....thankfully Smile

Reassuring to hear that Lutra escaped unscathed Em.

And I'm certain that our thoughts are with anyone that has been affected in the southern islands.

For those of you who met Donald's daughter (Donaldlee) at the 4th of July gathering - she had returned to San Salvador with her mother for school. We finally heard from her yesterday. She says that conditions in San Sal are horrible. They have just started getting donations from various relief orgs and some electric has been returned in some areas and there's one location where folks can go to use the phones. Most people can't even cook the food that's being donated because of damage to their kitchens and no potable water. School is still out until they can find a place to have it and many children have no uniforms anymore, those who do have no way to wash their uniforms, and books have been destroyed by wind and water. You don't even think about stuff like that! We really dodge the bullet here.

Yes Kristel Eleuthera dodged a bullet this time. It is so heartwarming that when we see the film footage of Bahamians picking up the pieces there is no looting and erratic behavior as we saw in the US at Katrina. Bahamians are picking up the pieces not saying things like one black woman said after Katrina "Who's gonna pick up all this stuff".

Glad to hear that Donaldlee is safe...... so sorry to hear that the conditions are worse that what we had thought. Wonder if SolarOven will be sending a shipment over? Will contact and see what I can find. Those poor folks.....
